Amaro Averna 29 Cl70
Fratelli Averna S.p.A
Regular price €13,90
Amaro of Sicilian origin, color similar to coffee, is presented in the glass clear and with the perfect viscosity. Slowly approaching the nose, it has a penetrating harmony of aromas ranging from honey to the typical hints of Mediterranean scrub, rosemary, and oregano, all on a background of bitter orange peel. Savoring a small amount of it on the palate, we find a rich, round, and enveloping taste, characterized by notes of licorice and spices. The mouth remains clean.
The history of Averna has very distant roots in the second half of the 19th century, when Fra Girolamo, a Capuchin friar of the Abbey of Santo Spirito in Caltanissetta, repaid his benefactor, Salvatore Averna, for the help received in a moment of particular difficulty with the recipe for a liqueur digestive. Neither of them could have ever imagined that that recipe would later become world famous. This recipe, for 140 years now, has been secretly handed down between generations and the only thing we know is that it is a blend of herbs, spices, and roots from Caltanissetta itself.
