    DESCRIPTION

Amaro Lucano was born in 1894 from a secret Vena family recipe handed down from generation to generation. Thanks to the skillful mixing of more than 30 herbs, it has a strong taste and is ideal for all occasions. It can be enjoyed straight, cold, with ice, or with an orange peel. Excellent as a base for cocktails.

    THE MANUFACTURER

It was the year 1894. In the back room of his biscuit factory in Pisticci, Cavalier Pasquale Vena created a blend of herbs with a balanced but decisive taste of citrus and floral notes. Thus was Amaro Lucano born.
A few years later, the incredible success of the discovery led the prized liqueur to go beyond the borders of Pisticci and Lucania. Amaro grew to be appreciated and known throughout Italy, even reaching the superfine palates of the Royal House of Savoy, of which the Vena family became the official supplier.
This fortunate period, however, came to a end with the advent of the Second World War. A lack of raw materials forced the interruption of production. Despite this, the extraordinary liqueur continued to make itself known.
In the second half of the 1950s, thanks to the hard work and dedication of Leonardo and Giuseppe Vena, sons of the founder, the artisan workshop grew to become an industrial reality. Production surged to 3,000 bottles of Amaro in a single year.
In 1965, the company moved from historic Pisticci, located in the Lucanian hills, to Pisticci Scalo, where the new plant was inaugurated. Later that year, this new plant allowed for an increase production up to 117,000 liters.
From the second half of the 1960s onward sales continued to rise.
The foresight of the Vena brothers led them to invest in large national advertising campaigns, which amplified the fame of Amaro Lucano and transformed it from a local product into a liqueur appreciated all over the world.
In the 1970s, growth allowed the company to add other products to their line, including Sambuca, Limoncello, and Caffè.
The family's passion for quality has been handed down from generation to generation. Today, the founder's grandson Pasquale Vena, his wife Rosistella, and children Leonardo, Francesco and Letizia, work with the same determination and passion that first brought Amaro Lucano to success.
