Ruby red, with particular garnet reflections. Rich and intense, the nose is expressed with hints of berries, sweet spices, and notes of violet. It is structured and balanced on the palate and long persistent. This wine expresses a choice of elegance and classicism.
Pairings: Excellent to combine with red meats, both grilled and stewed, it also goes well with game and aged cheeses.
Founded in 1958, today it has 50 members with about 110 hectares of Nebbiolo vineyards (1/7 of the area of origin) and controls most of the historical "crus" of the area. Producers of Barbaresco only vinifies Nebbiolo grapes, producing a Barbaresco D.O.C.G., from grapes from different vineyards in the area of origin, and a Nebbiolo Langhe D.O.C. with grapes from the same vineyards judged less suitable for producing a simpler and more ready-to-drink wine for aging.
In great vintages 9 Barbarescos are produced from specific vineyards and marketed as Barbaresco Riserva: Asili, Rabajà, Rio Sordo, Ovello, Montestefano, Pajé, Muncagota, Montefico, Pora, areas that have always been known for the production of grapes of particular value. Since the 2007 vintage they have been officially recognized by the production specification as "Additional Geographical Mentions". The name of the Cru and of the owners of the vineyards themselves are shown on the numbered labels.
In a good year about 500,000 bottles are thus produced divided between Barbaresco (40%), Riserva (35%) and Nebbiolo Langhe (25%).
