From this vineyard, thanks to the sunny and warm exposure and the thinning of the bunches done in late summer, very ripe grapes rich in color and extracts are obtained; then the prolonged maceration of the skins and the aging in wood enhance the characteristics of the grape to the fullest, giving us a pleasant, rich and long-lived wine.

    THE CELLAR

Poderi "La Collina" does not escape tradition and is intimately linked to its roots, deeply anchored to the surrounding environment which is part of everything and everyone.
The Second World War was raging. Gabriele was at the front: Africa, Greece, Albania; war and imprisonment took him to lands as distant as they were different from his own. Life was also bad for those who stayed at home.
Imagine how it could be for a single woman with two children to raise. Maria had to make do, everyone suffered on the spot and what she produced could not be sold or bartered. It was necessary to look beyond, not to remain idle. How many times had he got on his bicycle to carry heavy, essential, vital demijohns of wine to Liguria! He retraced the historic Vie del Sale: impervious, steep, narrow paths, once crossed by mules with loaded saddles.
Margherita Olocco, mother of Piergiorgio, survived the difficulties of the war, thanks also to the many sacrifices of Mary that indelibly marked her childhood. Married to Virginio, they ran their farmhouse, as was the custom in the fifties and sixties: buying grapes and wines, marketing and laying the foundations of today's business.
When Piergiorgio succeeded his parents at the beginning of the eighties, he decided to overturn the production philosophy and become a winemaker in its entirety.
He bought the first vineyard from his future father-in-law, a "vineyard" around which, step by step, row after row, a lot of effort and sacrifice unite the 14 hectares of vineyards that currently make up the property, in addition to the hazelnut and poplar grove.
Quality above all and quality without compromising, this is the common thread of the Podere which today offers the whole range of vines and local wines with a controlled designation of origin. Quality is born in the vineyard, between method and unique lands, in the Castile Region, the historic vines of Dogliani.
The characteristics of the soil and the right exposure to the sun make the vineyards of the farm, in the Castile Region, in the Doglianese hamlet of Pianezzo suitable for the production of important red wines, with great structure and generous body and fragrant, fresh and refined whites.
The wine is born in the vineyard and the care and attention lavished on the vineyard are notable, right from the grassing which is not just an aesthetic element.
Wine is born from respect for the land. The farm La Collina does not use synthetic herbicides, and the reintegration of the organic substance is largely entrusted to green manure (broad beans, peas, barley, corn), which brings back what has been removed from the ground.
The use of agriculture that integrates ancient knowledge and modern discoveries is fundamental in a management that is attentive to the environment and respect for human health.
